Jason, it is really weird that you just posted about caving, because it sounds very similar to the experience I had with my girl scouts. We went to a totally umimproved cave - meaning just a hole in the ground out in the middle of the woods and down you go. Just tie a rope to a tree and sort of rappel on in. We were in for almost three hours scrunching through places called the mole hole, the birth canal, etc. We'd look at some of the openings and say "no way", and then some how wriggle through. We did have a guide, because I didn't want to be responsible for all those girls in a place I'd never been before. We wore helmets, which was a good thing, because many of the passages were tiny, tiny, tiny. We were absolutely filthy at the end. A few cute bats, but they weren't flying around - just hanging around. It was a terrific challenge for the girls, not to mention the adults. We did part of it via candle light. And of course, sat in complete darkness for a while, then crunched on winter green lifesavers to make sparks.

Did you all read about the hiker in Utah who had to cut off his own arm to save himself after being pinned by a boulder in a canyon?? Well, that is the same area where we (Madison Reschkes) are hiking this June. And we are going to do the same activity he was doing - canyoneering. But, we won't be alone. We'll have each other to lift off those pesky boulders. Maybe we shoud bring a few pocketknives just in case!!

well this blog has been around for awhile now. And in my experience all blogs go up and down in activity. Just so you all know. So I haven't posted in forever and thought I'd get back on the ball with this thing (or is that back on the wagon?). Anywho.

I had a rad weekend. I went to No Shame Theatre friday night which is this improve theatre where anyone can submit a script 30min before it starts for a chance at being able to perform. My friends and I have been going to it on and off since I've been going to Iowa. Then on sat. Sam, TK, a girl named Yei, and I all went splunking. It was so fun guys. We went into this cave about 200ft at least!!! We have headlamps now (THX TO PAUL AND MY SISTER!!!). There were bats flying around but we did it anyway, and a ton of it was traversed on our stomachs because the holes were so tiny. It rocked my world. Then we crossed this raging river holding our shoes and backpacts etc. above our heads so we could set up and have a picnic on the other side...it was so hard core of us.

That night I went to this thing called "Living Water" which was a non-alcoholic event put on by my youth group. It was really fun, I stuck around and talked to a bunch of people that I didn't know, it was just rad. It emphasized the arts, so there was local art hanging up everywhere, these hairstylists were doing free 'dos for everyone and there was a collective collage anyone could add to and there were bands and rappers and djs and yada-yada. The best part...free food. ($3 cover to get in).
